Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has intersected high-grade gold mineralisation in reverse circulation (RC) drilling confirming depth extensions at the Star of Gordon prospect within Gordons Gold Project near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
Drilling has returned 1-metre at 19.8 g/t gold from 159 metres about 200 metres directly down dip from an earlier RC intersection of 10 metres at 8.4 g/t from 43 metres including 1-metre at 52.5 g/t.
Promisingly, the result is considered by YRL to be significant as it demonstrates the potential for high-grade mineralisation to extend for more than 250 metres down dip from the surface.
Furthermore, diamond drilling is planned to begin in December with the aim of providing detailed geological and structural information to known mineralisation areas to improve the understanding of the controls to high grades and generate new targets.
“Open at depth”
Yandal managing director Lorry Hughes said: “The 20 g/t gold intercept located over 200 metres down-dip from a 52 g/t gold intercept elevates the prospectivity of the Star of Gordon prospect considerably.
“After the initial discovery intercept, we completed three vertical reconnaissance holes and have confirmed that high-grade mineralisation is open at depth.
“Initial infill and extensional RC drilling is complete and the first diamond holes to examine the structural controls to the mineralisation are planned to commence shortly.
“The prospect is situated directly along strike from the Gordon Sirdar underground gold mine which is currently operating at depths exceeding 600 metres.
“We believe there is excellent potential to expand the Star of Gordon mineralisation along strike and down dip.”
Drilling at Star of Gordon
Yandal has received individual one-metre fire-assay results from three vertical reverse circulation holes completed to provide an initial test for continuity of mineralisation down dip from earlier high-grade RC intersections.
Hole YRLRC0669 was drilled 50 metres to the southeast on an adjacent section also intersected a mineralised zone with results including:
- 6 metres at 0.1 g/t gold from 169 metres; and
- 1-metre at 0.2 g/t from 179 metres at end-of-hole.
In addition, field duplicate resampling of the very high-grade mineralisation within the interval 10 metres at 8.4 g/t gold from YRLRC06301 returned consistent results confirming the very high grades from 50-52 metres including results up to 75.0 g/t gold.
Furthermore, infill and extensional RC drilling are underway with 22 holes for 2,919 metres completed as part of an ongoing program.
Other notable results
At Andrews prospect, RC drilling has intersected 40 metres at 0.4 g/t gold from 64 metres including 4 metres at 2.4 g/t gold.
To date, Yandal has completed 16 RC holes with results pending.
At Bradman prospect, RC drilling has intersected 11 metres at 2.0 g/t gold from 257 metres including 3 metres at 5.8 g/t from 261 metres.
The company has also completed two RC holes to date at Bradman with results pending.

Forward plan
Key exploration activities planned during the December and March quarters include:
- Receive and interpret pending AC, RC and diamond drill assays from the Malone, Gordons Dam, Star of Gordon, Andrews, Bradman, Challenger, Parmelia, Success and HMS Sulphur prospects;
- Commence diamond drilling at the priority Bradman, Star of Gordon and Gordons Dam prospects;
- Compile an open-pit MRE and commence pit optimisation studies for the Gordons Dam prospect;
- Commence detailed planning and execution of heritage surveys over key prospect areas within the Ironstone Well and Barwidgee projects including priority areas within, adjacent to and along strike from the Newport, Flushing Meadows, Oblique, Quarter Moon, Flinders Park and Sims Find prospects.
