AuKing Mining discovers near-surface, ore-grade copper north of Sandiego deposit at Koongie Park project

The results continue to provide important information that will assist AKN’s exploration team with future drill planning.

AuKing Mining Ltd (ASX:AKN)’s most recent assay results have uncovered near-surface, ore-grade copper north of Sandiego deposit at the Koongie Park Copper-Zinc Project in Western Australia.

The results continue to provide important information that will assist AKN’s exploration team with future drilling planning.

This includes a potential northern continuation of the main Sandiego mineralised zone, well beyond the previously known northern boundary, as well as adding strong momentum to efforts to identify significant mineralised extensions at greater depths and to the north than previously established.

About 75% of the 7,500-metre combined reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drill program is complete, with drilling to continue into mid-December.

‘Exciting development’

AuKing Mining chief executive officer Paul Williams said: “The discovery of near-surface copper mineralisation north of the known mineralised zone at Sandiego is an exciting development for AKN.

“Combined with further high-grade copper intersections from the latest deep drill holes, the company is clearly providing the basis to extend the existing known resources at the Sandiego deposit.

“More generally, we continue to make good progress with the drilling program at Koongie Park and look forward to providing further assay results in December.”

Results

The results were from three drill holes - a combination of a shallow reverse circulation (RC) water bore drill hole and two deep diamond drill holes - which were part of the initial drilling program at Koongie Park.

Significant intervals from the latest batch of drill holes at Koongie Park are:

➢ Hole ASWB001:

  • 5 metres at 1.37% copper from 50 metres; and
  • 2 metres at 1.71% from 85 metres.

➢ Hole ASRD004

  • 11 metres at 2.96% copper, 0.89% zinc, 4 g/t silver and 342 ppm cobalt from 395 metres, including 4.35 metres at 6.09% copper, 0.68% zinc, 9 g/t silver and 491 ppm cobalt from 401 metres;
  • 2.45 metres at 0.91% copper, 2.87% zinc, 1 g/t silver and 145 ppm copper from 410 metres; and
  • 3.9 metres at 0.74% copper, 1.84% zinc and 123 ppm cobalt from 416 metres.

➢ Hole ASRD005

  • 13.1 metres at 2.45% copper, 0.06% zinc, 4 g/t silver and 302 ppm cobalt from 455 metres including 8.7 metres at 2.96% copper, 0.08% zinc, 5 g/t silver and 405 ppm cobalt from 455 metres
  • 2.4 metres at 1.89% copper, 0.07% zinc, 6 g/t silver and 67 ppm cobalt from 484 metres.

Koongie Park drill update

AKN continues to make pleasing progress with the current drilling program, with more than 5,670 metres having been drilled to date.

The focus is now on the extraction of diamond core samples from various drill holes in the Onedin mineralised zone.

These samples will be prepared for a metallurgical test-work program scheduled to commence later in the year.

This drilling activity will run through to mid-December with assay results to be reported over the coming weeks.
