FYI Resources Ltd (ASX:FYI) continues to make good progress on Phase 1 joint extended high purity alumina (HPA) pilot plant trial operations with Alcoa (NYSE:AA) (Alcoa (NYSE:AA)).
Having completed the Phase 1 trial production, the generated HPA was put through a series of internal tests to ensure product characteristics, quality, consistency and suitability to various downstream HPA applications.
Internal assessments met the expectations of the metallurgical operations team, with the final calcined HPA product composited and samples sent for high-level Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) analysis at EAG Laboratories in New York.
It is here that the samples will be independently tested for high accuracy and confirmation of product grades (accuracy to 4 decimal places).
Results will provide valuable chemical and operating data for the engineering design criteria and will be updated to market when available.
FYI will also let the market know when Phase 2 of the joint extended pilot plant trial begins.
About FYI
FYI’s is positioning itself to be a significant producer of 4N and 5N HPA in the rapidly developing high-tech product markets.
HPA is increasingly used for certain high-tech products, with the longer-term driver for HPA being the outlook for the burgeoning electric vehicle (forecasts of >17% CAGR) and static energy storage markets where the primary function is in the use as a separator material between the anode and cathode in batteries to increase power, functionality and safety of the battery cells.
The foundation of the HPA strategy is FYI’s moderate temperature, atmospheric pressure innovative process flowsheet. The strategy’s quality attributes combine resulting in world-class HPA project potential.
