BATM Advanced Communications Ltd (LSE:BVC, OTC:BTAVF) said its COVID-19 RT-PCR diagnostic has been validated as effective against the Omicron mutation of the virus.
The group said its technology is “continually” checked against changes of strain. It has previously proved effective in detecting the alpha, beta, gamma and delta variants.
“Viruses constantly change through mutation and our diagnostics platform has been built on our recognition that we must always think of the future,” said BATM chief executive, Dr Zvi Marom.
“As a result, we were able to rapidly develop COVID-19 tests in response to the outbreak and those kits have been designed to be effective against the emergence of new variants."
As well as helping develop testing kits, the company provides medical laboratory solutions while also specialising in real-time technologies for networking.
The PCR tests were developed in partnership with Tor Vergata University in Rome.
