Global Energy Metals making good progress with its Phase I drill program at Lovelock battery metals project in Nevada

GEMC is aiming to confirm intersections of cobalt-nickel-copper bearing vein that correlates with historical underground mining and mapped superficial mineral occurrences

Global Energy Metals Corporation said that its Phase I drill program at the Lovelock battery metals project is “well underway” and has already intersected possible mineralization.

The Vancouver-based company is completing a 1,000-metre (m) program at the cobalt-nickel-copper project in Nevada.

GEMC is aiming to confirm intersections of cobalt-nickel-copper bearing vein that correlates with historical underground mining and mapped superficial mineral occurrences.

In particular, the program is focusing on two target areas: the Lovelock Mine Zone, which hosts historical underground high-grade cobalt, nickel and copper, and the New Zone, where several subparallel structures indicate potential for multiple mineralized zones, according to the company.

In a brief update, GEMC told shareholders that it has drilled over 800m through seven holes so far. Drilling has intersected possible mineralization, alteration and primary structures, it added.

GEMC said it believes Lovelock has potential for near-surface cobalt, nickel and copper and could become a “significant discovery opportunity”.

"We are very pleased with the progress made from Phase I drilling which primarily targeted the untested, near surface IOCG system, as well as additional targets outside the historical mining zone,” Timothy Strong, GEMC’s project development manager commented in a release.

“These chargeability anomaly targets were established by our team as highly prospective through re-interpretation of historic geological and geophysical data. So far, the majority of the holes drilled have intersected interesting structures, alteration, and possible mineralization visually comparable to descriptions of rocks from the Lovelock Mine waste dump that previous testing showed anomalously high cobalt, copper and nickel concentrations.”

The company expects to release initial assay results in the coming weeks.
