Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP) said its investee company had delivered encouraging pre-clinical results for a next-generation Covid inoculation.
Data from The Vaccines Group revealed its herpesvirus-based jab stimulated a strong T cell response when used on pigs. It described the results as "very strong".
“There is a growing body of evidence to show that stimulating a T cell response confers longer-lasting immunity than other approaches and also offers the potential to provide protection against current and future variants of the disease," explained Neil Crabb, chief executive of Frontier IP.
Crabb added there is a growing recognition among healthcare professionals that Covid “is not going disappear” and that an update response to the virus will be required.
Frontier owns 17% of The Vaccine Group.
