Renforth Resources Inc (CSE:RFR, OTCQB:RFHRF) has announced the success of the stripping program on its Victoria West Battery Metals system at its Surimeau District property in Quebec, where it exposed nickel, cobalt, copper, and zinc over approximately 275 meters (m) which was trenched.
The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said this was located between mineralized drill holes from its recently announced 2.2 kilometer (km) drilled strike length, with each of those holes intersecting battery metals.
“We are quite happy with the visual and XRF results from the field, Victoria West is proving to be a very interesting site, currently stretching over approximately 5 kms, containing nickel and cobalt needed for energy storage, copper required to build EVs and zinc, a new addition to the US critical minerals list,” Renforth CEO Nicole Brewster said in a statement.
“The big question is what happens to the mineralization as we go east, along the remaining approximately 15 kms of the magnetic anomaly associated with the nickel and cobalt, before we reach the Colonie site, at the very eastern end. 2022 will tell us whether, or how big, Victoria West grows,” he added.
Trenching at Surimeau was rounded out in early November and 704 samples were taken, including 25 grab samples and 24 blanks, said the company. The mineralized main shear zone is present and exposed along the entire length of the main trench, trending west-south-west. “Notable mineralization is also present within an alteration package along the north side of the main shear along the entire exposed length of it in the trench,” said Renforth.
The Huston discovery, 18 km northwest of Victoria West, where Renforth previously announced a discovery grab sample with an assay of 1.9% nickel, 1.38% copper, and 4 grams per tonne (g/t) of silver, was revisited, said the company.
Renforth said samples taken from both areas have been delivered to the lab for assay, and “results will be released when available.”
The company is also focused on detailed drone photography to aid in digitizing the mapping of the stripped area. “Planning has begun for an EM/Mag survey at Victoria West over a portion, or the entire, ~20 km magnetic anomaly,” said the company. This survey will “see” the sulphides, which are commonly connected in ribbons and stringers, giving us greater detail on the structure, it added.
In addition, drill core sample material is being selected for more assaying to determine what degree of platinum mineralization is present. The only testing for platinum and palladium carried out was on the initial surface prospecting samples taken from the Colonie, LaLonde and Victoria West areas in June 2020, which the firm said gave “positive assay results” showing the metals are present at each location.
