District Metals hails latest drill assays from Steffenburgs zone at Tomtebo project

District Metals Corp has reported the latest drill results from its second phase campaign at its flagship Tomtebo project in Sweden, which, it said, were better than expected.

The assays come from the first three holes from the program, two of which targeted the Steffenburgs zone and were sunk down plunge from another previous hole, which returned 8.2 meters (m) at 20.94% zinc-equivalent from a depth of 65.3m to 73.5m.

The latest highlight results from Steffenburgs included 14.3 m at 14.2% zinc-equivalent from 210m depth, and 11.6m at 16.9% zinc-equivalent starting from 210.8m depth in one hole.

Another showed 3.25m at 5.6% zinc-equivalent from 110.55m depth.

A third hole targeted a coincident gravity and magnetic anomaly, which sits 1 kilometer (km) northeast from the historic Tomtebo mine.

Garrett Ainsworth, CEO of District, said the assay results associated with visually strong sulphide mineralization in the two holes at the Steffenburgs area were "even better than anticipated, and the high grade polymetallic lenses currently being delineated at the Steffenburgs zone are impressive".

Rodney Allen, District's technical advisor, added: "From interpretation of the geology of the Tomtebo area, we conclude that the massive sulphide lens formed at or just below the sea floor in the vent of a submarine volcano, 1.9 billion years ago."

The southwest side of the massive sulphide lens grades into an extensive network of pyritic polymetallic vein mineralization that is interpreted to represent sulphide precipitated in the "feeder conduits", below the massive sulphide," he said.

"The northeast side of the massive sulphide lens has a sharp contact with less mineralized hanging-wall volcanic rocks and is interpreted to be the original top of the massive sulphide body."

He noted that the edges of the massive sulphide were not yet well defined, and the down-plunge extent of the massive sulphide was open.

The Tomtebo project sits in the Bergslagen mining district of south-central Sweden and comprises 5,144 hectares (Ha) and sits between the historic Falun Mine and Boliden's Garpenberg mine that are located 25 kilometres to the northwest and southeast, respectively.
