Bitcoin price languishes into the weekend, Ethereum and alt-coins steady

The Dogecoin and Shib Inu ‘memecoins’ meanwhile fell 1.4% and and 2% respectively

The price of Bitcoin continues to languish, down 3.6% changing hands just above US$57,300, weighed down by tightening of US regulations via Joe Biden’s new bill and, separately, China’s latest warning to crypto miners.

Evidently, this week’s headlines have taken the shine off Cryptos that had been trading at all time highs - though so far the price retreat remains somewhat modest.

Ethereum was down slightly, at around US$41,60, whilst the Solana and Cardano alt-coins were also only down by a small margin in Friday’s early deals.

The Dogecoin and Shib Inu ‘memecoins’ meanwhile fell 1.4% and and 2% respectively, at £0.2273 and $0.00004513.

Elsewhere in the crypto market, Gemini - the crypto exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins – said it will allocate US$400mln of capital from the latest funding round into building a metaverse. Tyler Winklevoss said it plans to build an ‘immersive’ trading experience.

Binance may raise a "couple hundred million" dollars in a funding round set to close in a month or two through its US unit according to chief executive Changpeng Zhao, who has not ruled out a future IPO.

Millions flock to ‘The NFT Bay’, a website with downloadable JPEG versions of NFTs. Its purpose according to creator Geoffrey Huntley is to help people understand what they truly are “buying when purchasing NFT art.”
