Mining

Okapi Resources’ new managing director has strong uranium background

Ferrier will leverage more than 15 years of experience in management, corporate finance and principal investing roles in the global mining sector.

Okapi Resources Ltd (ASX:OKR) has appointed highly experienced mining executive Andrew Ferrier as managing director.

Ferrier has significant knowledge of the North American uranium space, having been heavily involved in the development, permitting and sale of the Reno Creek in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium project in Wyoming, USA. Reno Creek is now the largest permitted preconstruction ISR project in the USA.

In his new role, Ferrier will leverage more than 15 years of experience in management, corporate finance and principal investing roles in the global mining sector, including senior roles at Pacific Road Capital, a large mining-focused private equity investment firm where he worked for 12 years across the USA, Canada and Australia.

“Andrew is an exceptional leader with a successful track record of identifying, developing and selling North American uranium assets," Okapi’s chairman Peretz Schapiro said.

“He has a deep understanding of global capital markets and is ideally placed to execute Okapi’s strategy of becoming a new leader in North American carbon-free nuclear energy.”

The company also announced that executive director David Nour has decided to retire. A board member since November 2019, Nour has been instrumental in the success of the company, including by progressing the transaction with Tallahassee.

Schapiro thanked Nour for his dedication to the company at a pivotal moment in its development.
