Quaterra Resources Inc (TSX-V:QTA, OTCQB:QTRRF) announced it is changing its name to Lion Copper and Gold Corp.

Shares of the company will start trading under the new name and stock symbol ‘LEO’ on the TSX Venture Exchange starting November 22.

Its stock symbol will also change to ‘LCGMF’ on the OTCQB.

Quaterra, soon to be Lion, has assets in the highly-prospective regions east of the Golden Triangle and within the Spences Bridge Gold Belt in BC, as well as an active flagship copper project in Nevada.

CEO Travis Naugle told investors that the name change was occurring as the company is taking steps towards becoming a domestic producer of copper.

“(The) name change marks our commitment to play a lead in sustainable mining approaches in the support of the renewable energy economy, while also positioning ourselves for compelling growth potential,” Naugle said in a statement.

Quaterra shares were up 3.13% on Thursday afternoon at around C$0.17 per share on the TSX Venture Exchange.
