Woodbois joins the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance

The Africa-focused forestry and carbon credit company said the members of the alliance "share a common goal to move away from a traditional linear fossil-fuel based economy, towards a sustainable circular bioeconomy"

Woodbois Ltd (AIM:WBI) said it joined The Circular Bioeconomy Alliance (CBA), an organisation established by the Prince of Wales that aims to accelerate the transition to a ‘circular bioeconomy’.

The Africa-focused forestry and voluntary carbon credit company is one of six new members joining the CBA. The group's current activities include forest landscape restoration and agroforestry projects in Africa, Europe, South America and Asia, and other partners including AstraZeneca, Lombard Odier and The World Economic Forum.

A circular bioeconomy, Woodbois said, relies on healthy, biodiverse and resilient ecosystems, with the aim of providing "sustainable wellbeing through the provision of ecosystem services and the sustainable management of biological resources”.

Executive chair Paul Dolan said being a member will help the company circulate knowledge and develop partnerships.

“We are delighted to be joining a group of likeminded organisations at the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance who share a common goal to move away from a traditional linear fossil-fuel based economy, towards a sustainable circular bioeconomy,” he said.

“Natural capital can be found at the heart of all Woodbois' operations – we recognise the critical role forest ecosystem services play in regulating climate, harbouring biodiversity, supporting rural livelihoods, and producing renewable materials for a green economy.”
