BiVictriX Therapeutics, Abzena team up to create next generation of cancer antibody-drug conjugates

The company is developing an anti-cancer technology that works with superior specificity while eradicating collateral damage

BiVictriX Therapeutics PLC (AIM:BVX) said it has found a manufacturer for its antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).

The collaboration with Abzena will allow BiVictriX to cost-effectively generate anti-cancer ADCs for use in preclinical research without needing its own facility.

BiVictriX's Chief executive Tiffany Thorn said: "Abzena is world-renowned for possessing the expertise and capabilities to develop and manufacture antibody-drug conjugates to the highest standards.

“Utilising Abzena's extensive knowledge in the field will be highly valuable as we look to expedite the development of our lead candidate, BVX001, and additional pipeline candidates towards achieving key pre-clinical milestones.”

Thorn and her team have developed what are called Bi-Cygni treatments, which target the cancer with superior specificity while eradicating damaging and life-threatening side effects.

The benefits, though yet to be fully proven at this early stage in the process, should deliver what the experts call a “highly selective” approach to tackling the disease, allowing doctors to safely administer higher drug doses more effectively.

BVX001 aims to provide a new therapy for AML, a highly aggressive form of blood cancer which is notoriously difficult to detect and treat.
