Amazon.com Inc in the UK will stop accepting payments made using Visa (NYSE:V) credit cards next year.
Some customers were told this week that the changes are being made because of high transaction fees charged by Visa (NYSE:V).
In its email to customers, Amazon UK said: "Starting 19 January, 2022, we will unfortunately no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the UK, due to the high fees Visa charges for processing credit card transactions."
Bloomberg also reported the news.
Amazon UK said "we know this may be inconvenient", but told customers they will still be able to use debit cards, including from Visa, as well as credit cards from Mastercard (NYSE:MA) and other providers such as Eurocard and American Express, as well as Visa credit cards issued outside of the UK.
