Elon Musk sold another chunk of his Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock on Tuesday, taking his total sales to roughly US$8.8bn.
According to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Musk sold more than 934,000 shares on Tuesday, for approximately US$973mln.
That brings the total number of shares sold since November 9 to about 816mln. Musk took to Twitter on November 7 to ask his 63.2 million followers whether he should shed 10% of his holding in the electric vehicle giant.
Yesterday it was revealed that Michael Burry, one of the financiers that inspired the Big Short film, closed out his Tesla short.
Burry’s Scion Asset Management fund held a short position worth around US$534mln earlier this year.
The short position was linked to Burr’s stated belief the shares were trading at “ridiculous” levels at close to US$600 apiece.
Tesla shares, which have topped US$1,240 since then, but tumbled since Musk’s Twitter poll, were back on the up overnight, rising 4% to US$1,054.73.
