Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) has continued to pursue high-grade gold mineralisation with a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program completed at the Kookynie Gold Project in Yilgarn Craton, Western Australia.
An initial RC campaign of 21 holes for 2,987 metres at the McTavish East prospect targeted structurally controlled gold mineralisation under cover.
The campaign was intended to define strike and depth extensions of the gold body, discovered through recent aircore drilling, which returned results of up to 4 metres at 31.08 g/t from 96 metres and 2 metres at 32.5 g/t from 18 metres.
Samples from McTavish East have been delivered to the laboratory, but results are not expected until January 2022, after which CAV will pursue exploration at the prospect based on these results.
An RC rig will be sent to McTavish North to test for further mineralisation.
On the hunt for gold
Carnavale Resources CEO Humphrey Hales said, “We are excited to have finished CAV’s first RC drilling campaign at Kookynie. This initial RC program was designed to follow up bonanza gold intercepts in geological structures identified in recent aircore programs in the regolith. We look forward to the assay results in the new year.”
Primary gold mineralisation at McTavish East is found in northeast-trending structures that have a deeper weathering profile and are characterised by an alluvial gold anomaly to the east.
Other strong previous intersections include:
- 8 metres at 4.06 g/t gold from 20 metres, including 2 metres at 15.6 g/t;
- 12 metres at 3.37 g/t from 50 metres;
- 6 metres at 2.09 g/t from 82 metres and 8 metres at 1.02 g/t from 52 metres, including 4 metres at 1.76 g/t; and
- 5 metres at 1.73 g/t from 74 metres, including 3 metres at 2.68 g/t.
Aircore drilling at McTavish North identified wide zones of gold mineralisation in the regolith profile that provide a vector to potential high-grade mineralisation at depth, the highest intercept from this program being 2 metres at 16.3 g/t gold from 10 metres.
