PVW Resources NL (ASX:PVW) has extended its King of The West gold anomaly 2 kilometres south thanks to a series of auger geochemistry findings.
The explorer has traced a 4-kilometre by 1.5-kilometre gold occurrence that grades more than 40 parts per billion (ppb) at the Kalgoorlie Project in Western Australia.
Within that anomaly, PVW has defined a gold zone grading more than 50 ppb that spans more than 1.2 kilometres wide and more than 2 kilometres long.
Importantly, the extended gold anomaly remains open to the southeast, with multiple 50-ppb-plus gold samples returned on the southernmost extension lines.
Notably, the level of anomalous gold and the material sampled is equivalent to the anomalous areas that led to the discovery of Golden Cities gold deposits.
“Exciting prospect in prospective region”
Commenting on the findings, PVW executive director George Bauk said: “These results are significant and highlight an exciting prospect in a very prospective gold region with the Norton Gold Golden Cities deposits hosting over 1 million ounces to the north of us.
“The 4-kilometre by 1.5-kilometre soil anomaly is open to the south and I look forward to the next stage of exploration on this project.
“The next step is to systematically test the King of The West auger anomaly with aircore and reverse circulation (RC) drilling to confirm the source of the near-surface gold anomaly."
Unlocking King of The West
Thanks to a staged exploration initiative over its Kalgoorlie Project tenure, PVW has transitioned the King of The West property from a geophysical target to a priority drill prospect.
Originally, the target was defined by the intersection of a pronounced NNW magnetic trend and northwest faulting that can be traced northwest to the Golden Cities and Federal deposits.
These deposits are known to have granodiorite and northeast dipping veins and shears hosting the gold mineralisation.
As a first pass to test the King of The West target, a 6-kilometre by 3-kilometre area was auger drilled on a 400-metre by 100-metre grid.
Results were largely positive, with elevated gold contourable above 40 ppb.
What’s more, numerous samples grading above 50 ppb gold are located along trends and multi-sample anomalies.
Beyond King of The West, PVW is also exploring its other Kalgoorlie Project tenements.
Aircore drilling at both the Black Flag and Pappy prospects is now complete, with results for both properties pending.
