Blackstone Minerals brings strong geological expertise with board appointment

The company will leverage Dr Frank Bierlein’s geological expertise, drawn from a career spanning three decades, six continents and multiple commodities.

Blackstone Minerals Ltd (ASX:BSX, OTCQX:BLSTF) has enhanced the skillset of its board through the appointment of Dr Frank Bierlein as a non-executive director.

The company will leverage Dr Bierlein’s geological expertise, drawn from a career spanning three decades, six continents and multiple commodities.

“We are delighted to welcome Frank and believe his expertise in project generation and business development both complements and adds strength to the blend and composition of the Board of Blackstone," BSX chairman Hamish Halliday said.

Industry know-how

Dr Bierlein’s industry CV is impressive, with a rap sheet including exploration and generative geology management positions with Afmeco Australia, QMSD Mining Co Ltd, Areva NC and Qatar Mining.

He has also consulted for Resolute Mining, Freeport-McMoRan, Newmont Gold, Goldfields International and the International Atomic Energy Agency, among others.

Scientific excellence

A researcher and lecturer who obtained his PhD in Geology from the University of Melbourne, Dr Bierlein has also published and co-authored more than 130 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Dr Bierlein is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and a member of both the Society of Economic Geologists and the Society of Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits.

He currently holds non-executive board positions at PNX Metals Ltd and Impact Minerals Limited and was formerly a non-executive director of Gold Australia Pty Ltd and chair of the Advisory Board of a Luxemburg-based private equity fund.

Farewell to founding member

The announcement coincides with the resignation of Andrew Radonjic, a founding director of Blackstone Minerals since it listed in January 2017.

Halliday, speaking on behalf of the board, thanked Radonjic for his contributions to the company, calling him an invaluable member of the board during his tenure.
