Aurumin kicks off drilling campaign at Mt Dimer gold play

The gold explorer and project developer plans to execute between 2,500 and 3,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling over its wholly-owned gold camp.

Aurumin Ltd (ASX:AUN) has officially kickstarted its latest drilling campaign at the Mt Dimer Gold Project in Western Australia.

The gold explorer and project developer plans to execute between 2,500 and 3,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling over its wholly-owned gold camp in the coming weeks.

Drilling will hone in on previous assays from some of Mt Dimer’s best-known deposits, such as the Lightning, Frodo and LO3 North prospects.

They will also follow up on some of the gold camp’s newly identified mineralised structures, unsurfaced at the T6 (Frodo North) and T12 targets.

All in all, the program should take roughly three weeks to complete and Aurumin will report on results as they become available.

Mt Dimer under exploration

Interestingly, Aurumin’s wholly-owned gold camp is a historical producing asset.

In the past, the precious metals play generated more than 125,000 ounces of gold from open-pit and underground operations.

The project saw 600,000 tonnes of ore pass through its hub, grading at 6.4 g/t gold.

As part of the new drilling program, Aurumin is already turning the soil at Mt Dimer’s Lightning deposit, where it’s looking to extend mineralisation further north after the July drilling program intersected 4 metres at 48.69 g/t gold.

The gold exploration company also fielded some of its best results to date in the September quarter, recording a 153.5 g/t gold hit during drilling at Lightning.

Speaking to previous exploration in the company’s latest quarterly report, Aurumin managing director Brad Valiukas said: “The results from Mt Dimer are the best received to date.

“We continue to see excellent potential for both open pit and underground mining developments across a number of deposits at Mt Dimer.”

With the new campaign officially underway, Aurumin is out to field similar success in the December quarter.

As of September 30, the explorer had just under $2.6 million in the bank to support its future expeditions.
