Roblox is back online following three-day hiatus

The gaming platform, which has over 40 million daily users worldwide, confirmed the problem was an internal issue rather than an external attack

Roblox Corp (NYSE:RBLX) returned from a three-day outage on Sunday 31 October as the gaming platform’s developer said it was ‘incrementally’ bringing regions of the game back to service.

Roblox, a gaming platform and digital hangout space that has over 40mln daily users worldwide, confirmed the problem was an internal issue rather than an external attack.

Nevertheless, the outage that began last Thursday and lasted until late Sunday, may see the video game firm face long-lasting effects. It frustrated more than half of America's children, but, moreover, parents and creators may now have doubts about the reliability of the gaming platform which may be problematic for the platform that relies on pre-payment of in-game credits for its monetisation.

Roblox explained in a Twitter post that it had “identified [the] root cause and solution,” but it has not yet to revealed publicly the specific internal issues it experienced.

Instead, the company prioritised explaining that the team was “working on getting things back online” for millions of users as swiftly as possible.

The gaming platform was quick to dismiss speculation surrounding a Chipotle promotion that launched thirty minutes before the failure began as the root cause of the problem.

As well as being the home to user-created video games Roblox is also the home of virtual concerts with its first-ever music festival held in mid-October 2021.
