Caspin Resources Ltd (ASX:CPN) has moved to increase its understanding of Yarabrook Hill prospect at the Yarawindah Brook Platinum Group Elements (PGE)-Nickel-Copper Project in Western Australia with a drilling campaign utilising diamond drill and reverse circulation (RC) rigs.
Caspin is a mineral exploration company based in Western Australia and focused on the Yarawindah Brook and Mount Squires projects.
At Yarawindah Brook, north of Perth, Caspin is exploring in Australia’s newest PGE-nickel-copper province while at Mount Squires, the company has identified a 50-kilometre structural corridor with gold mineralisation.
Large program recommenced
The drilling program will test multiple targets at Yarabrook Hill, which the company believes is largely untested and remains open to exploration, especially at depth.
Previous drilling focused on surface mineralisation, ignoring large sections of prospective basal sequence potentially obscured by overlying geoformations.
The RC drilling is a continuation of a program in August, which was suspended due to wet ground conditions. The new program will extend beyond the 2,000 metres of originally planned drilling to test several new targets, including:
- Northwest PGE-nickel-copper soil geochemical anomaly which occurs in an embayment of the intrusion and a potential near-surface expression of the basal contact;
- Eastern PGE-nickel-copper soil geochemical anomaly which occurs at the interpreted position of the overturned basal sequence; and
- XC-22 Airborne Electromagnetic (AEM) anomaly, which is coincident with a magnetic high and gravity low, potentially indicated serpentinised ultramafic rocks.
The diamond drilling program is partly funded by the WA Government Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS). The rig will be drilling a deep, stratigraphic diamond hole through the entire intrusion, potentially to 1,000 metres, to assist geological interpretations and potentially identify prospective basal sequences.
Caspin may adjust some of the planned RC holes based on results from the initial diamond hole. The diamond program is expected to consist of approximately 1,500 metres, whilst the RC program is expected to continue through until Christmas.
