Softcat remains optimistic despite return to business travel hitting trading

Full-year operating profit for 2022 is expected to be in line with the record achieved in 2021

Softcat (LSE:SCT) PLC remained optimistic on its prospects even though the return of business travel and events will create a significant headwind during 2022.

The IT infrastructure group said it continues to target double-digit gross profit growth, which is ahead of market trends, and expects full-year operating profit for 2022 to be in line with the record achieved in 2021.

The new financial year has started well, but the first half will be compared against some very strong results delivered last year, so operating profit performance in the year ahead will be slightly more weighted towards the second half.

In the year to 31 July, revenue jumped 7% to £1.1bn, with operating profit climbing 27% to £119mln. Net cash at year-end was £101mln.

The FTSE 250 firm declared a final dividend of 14.4p and a special dividend of 20.5p.
