Lucky Minerals (TSX-V:LKY, OTC:LKMNF) Inc has welcomed the latest exploration results from its Wayka epithermal gold discovery at the flagship Fortuna project in Ecuador, which has expanded the mineralized footprint.
The gold explorer has posted sample assays from ongoing trenching work at Wayka and results were reported for three trenches - T-10, T-11 and T-12.
Results at Trench T-10 averaged 2.81 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 2 metres (m), the firm said, noting that this trench sits around 80m from trench T-6, where previously reported results included 17 g/t gold over 3m.
"The results from Wayka are expanding the footprint of the mineralized intervals. We are finding multiple areas of alteration with mineralization and their related feeders," said Lucky CEO François Perron in a statement.

"The system’s full extent has yet to be established and work in the field continues. Our understanding of the mineralization is still in the early stages and will continue to improve over the coming weeks as more work is completed at surface. In addition to the current trenching, we have mobilized crews to complete a detailed soil sampling program which will be combined with geophysics to refine our targeting and drilling which is expected in the coming months," Perron added.
Trench T-11 was started around 75m southeast of the Trench T-6 and averaged 1.12 g/t gold over 2m. Meanwhile, Trench T-12 averaged 1.21 g/t gold over 10m. That was dug around 700 metres north of Trench T-5.
"Trenches T-10, T-11 and T-12 are open in both directions and will be further investigated as part of future trenching efforts," added the company.
Lucky's wholly-owned Fortuna project comprises 12 contiguous exploration concessions spanning 550 square kilometres (sq km). It lies in highly prospective, yet underexplored, gold belt in southern Ecuador.
At Wayka, the company is currently focused on trenching, soil sampling and a magnetic survey. This work will be followed by a detailed compilation of all geologic data ahead of scout drilling in coming months, said the firm.
