Ora Banda Mining highlights further gold exploration success at West Australian projects

“We are greatly encouraged by the strong gold results coming from the Victoria Workings, just 6 kilometres southwest of the active Riverina open cut mine. We will be looking forward to continued drilling success in this area," says MD.

Ora Banda Mining Ltd (ASX:OBM) has fielded further strong results from first-pass regional aircore (AC) and brownfields reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its Victoria Workings and Sky regional prospects around the Davyhurst Gold Project northwest of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Final assay results have been received for the entire exploration program with results for Victoria Workings, Blue Tongue, Callion Cross, South Pole, German Charlie and Sky prospects and highlights include:

  • 5 metres at 30.7 g/t gold from 127 metres (Victoria Workings); and
  • 19 metres at 1.5 g/t from 12 metres to the end of hole (Sky).

While the drilling was completed in the first half of 2021, assay results have been held up due to excessive turnaround times at the laboratory

“Strong gold results”

Ora Banda managing director Peter Nicholson said: “We are greatly encouraged by the strong gold results coming from the Victoria Workings, just 6 kilometres southwest of the active Riverina open cut mine.

“We will be looking forward to continued drilling success in this area.

“The Sky result is also exciting and come from an area that has been rated as a highly prospective mineralised corridor extending out of the Sand King open-cut mine.

“This area really is wide open and only lightly drill tested, which is surprising given its proximity to a very well mineralised gold system.”

Drill program

At Victoria Workings, RC drilling intersected multiple zones of quartz-sulphide veining accompanied by epidote alteration within biotite-sulphide altered shears.

These mineralised lodes dip moderately to the east within basaltic units with other significant results including:

  • 5 metres at 4.0 g/t gold from 54 metres;
  • 4 metres at 6.5 g/t from 27 metres; and
  • 1-metre at 13.7 g/t from 74 metres.

At Sky, results from the remainder of the AC drilling have been received with an intersection of 19 metres at 1.53 g/t from the southern line at the prospect, which sits immediately north of the Sand King mine and east of Bewick-Moreing mine.

Forward plan

Ora Banda has planned additional drilling at Victoria workings to follow up these outstanding results with the view to define the extent and geometry of the high-grade shoots.

At German Charlie and South Pole further drilling is required to map the extents of the supergene halo and target the primary source in fresh rock.

Importantly, the company began a 9,000-metre AC drilling program in September and this will end in mid-November.

This program will test an additional eight prospects along with following up on some of the results returned from the early programs.
