Base Resources announces board changes

After more than six years in the chair, Keith Spence is moving on to be replaced by non-executive director Michael Stirzaker

Base Resources Limited (AIM:BSE, ASX:BSE), the African minerals sands producer, said non-executive chair Keith Spence is to step down.

Spence will move on after the company’s annual general meeting on 26 November.

Non-executive director Michael Stirzaker will succeed Spence.

Stirzaker has more than 30 years’ commercial experience, mainly in mining finance and mining investment and has been a non-executive director of Base Resources since 2014.

The company also revealed Scot Sobey, a director of major shareholder Pacific Road, has been nominated by Pacific Road for election as a director at the next annual general meeting.

Sobey is a mechanical engineer with more than 15 years’ experience in the resources industry and significant development and operating expertise across multiple commodities.

Meanwhile, Colin Bwye, the director of operations and development, announced his intention to retire at the end of March.
