Vango Mining Ltd (ASX:VAN) has received further strong gold results as it continues to strengthen open-pit potential at its flagship Marymia Gold Project in the Mid-West region of Western Australia.
Highlight assay results from seven reverse circulation (RC) drill holes in the company’s 2021 drilling campaign at the priority Parrot and Apollo target include:
- 12 metres at 2.6 g/t gold from 43 metres;
- 6 metres at 19.7 g/t from 50 metres; and
- 8 metres at 2.5 g/t from 52 metres.
Promisingly, in conjunction with historic intersections, these results continue to confirm the continuity of mineralised structures below the open-pits.
Drilling campaign
Vango's drilling campaign targeted un-mined high-grade mineralisation below the Parrot and Apollo open-pits, previously only mined to shallow depths.
In conjunction with results from the previous drilling, it is designed to add near-surface resources amenable to open-pit mining, as part of any future mining operation at the project.
The results have confirmed the continuity of the mineralised structures below the pits and in areas of previous gold mineralisation, and continue to strengthen the open-pit potential.
Other highlights, including intersections from previous drilling, are:
- 3 metres at 1.3 g/t gold from 124 metres;
- 1 metre at 2.5 g/t from 177 metres;
- 2 metres at 11.1 g/t from 99 metres;
- 8 metres at 1.6 g/t from 67 metres;
- 2 metres at 6.0 g/t from 80 metres;
- 1 metre at 1.5 g/t from 48 metres;
- 4 metres at 3.7 g/t from 56 metres;
- 4 metres at 11.0 g/t from 54 metres; and
- 3 metres at 15.3 g/t from 40 metres.

Forward plan
Vango is targeting 11 priority open-pits in its 2021 drilling campaign with drilling designed to add resources and to deliver ‘critical mass’ to the substantial existing Marymia resource base which will support a proposed stand-alone mining operation at the project.
The first phase of drilling in all 11 open pits has now been completed and consisted of 8,914 metres of RC drilling across 56 holes.
All results have now been reported from the Skyhawk, Parrot and Apollo open pits, and results from drilling at the remaining eight open pits will be progressively released as they become available.
Vango plans to conduct a follow-up, second phase of drilling at all targets that deliver positive results in the completed first round of drilling, to test for further extensions of gold mineralisation to add to the Marymia resource base.
