Falcon Gold Corp (TSX-V:FG, OTC:FGLDF), a precious metals developer released an update on its summer 2021 mapping and sampling program at the Central Canada gold project near Atikokan, Ontario.
Sampling conducted on the JJ Walshe mine trend returned five grab samples ranging from 11.2 grams per ton (g/t) gold (Au) to 79.7 g/t Au.
The exploration company also noted that assay results highlighted several previously undocumented gold-bearing zones across the property including, the Sugar Shear (22.9 g/t Au), Monte (3.63 g/t Au), Honey (1.04 g/t Au) and Hoist Zone (1.12 g/t Au).

The Central Canada mine trend is described as having a mineralized strike length of 140 meters (m) as defined by drilling intercepts and consists of parallel zones striking east-northeast and dipping very steeply to the north-northwest.
The mine trend includes the historical JJ Walshe shaft, which was sunk on a 2m wide quartz vein. The newly documented Sugar Shear extends over 360m along the northern shore of Sapawe Lake, 650m southwest of the JJ Walshe workings and returned values up to 22.9 g/t Au in blast rock from historical workings.
The Monte zone, which is 970m east-northeast of the JJ Walshe shaft, is also newly documented and returned values up to 3.63 g/t Au. While the recently discovered Honey Zone located on the north shore of Sapawe Lake, 600m east-southeast of the JJ Walshe showing returned values up to 1.04 g/t Au.
Lastly, the Hoist zone occurs 1900m east-northeast of the JJ Walshe shaft, within mixed tonalite, granodiorite and gabbro near the folded contact of the greenstone and intrusive complex to the north. Falcon said this area hosts up to 1.12 g/t gold occurring in altered granodiorite.
In total 269 grab samples were collected from across the property.
"The summer 2021 detailed mapping and sampling program has exceeded our expectations,” Karim Rayani, Falcon's Chief Executive Officer said in a statement. “Falcon has confirmed the high-grade tenor of the JJ Walshe shaft zone. Further outlining four controls of gold mineralization.”
The company CEO went on to note: “These results only augment our belief that the Central Canada gold project has tremendous potential to host a large tonnage system."
Falcon is now in the process of stripping and trenching at the Monte, Hoist, No. 2 Vein and the JJ Walshe trend. Additional mapping and prospecting has been recommended for the Sugar Shear and Honey Zones, while property wide mapping focusing on structure and lithologies is underway.
