Piedmont Lithium appoints Krishna McVey as human resources VP

“Kris is a welcome addition to our expanding leadership team, and we feel extremely fortunate to have someone with her background and unique skillset join the Piedmont family,” says CEO.

Piedmont Lithium Inc (ASX:PLL, NASDAQ:PLL, XETRA:) has appointed Krishna McVey as vice president of human resources, adding further expertise to its leadership team.

As part of her new role, McVey will head up HR-related activities for the lithium business’ growing workforce and report to Piedmont CEO Keith Phillips.

In the past, she’s worked across several dimensions in the HR space, bringing experience in all aspects of labour and employment law and human capital management.

The appointment comes as Piedmont continues to develop its lithium business, which will one day contribute to a clean energy economy in North America.

It’s currently working on the centrepiece of its operations: a hub in the heart of the renowned Carolina Tin Spodumene Belt, where Piedmont is positioned to be one of the largest, lowest-cost, most sustainable producers of battery-grade lithium hydroxide in the world.

“Diverse, international leadership experience”

Speaking to the appointment, CEO Keith Phillips said: “Kris is a welcome addition to our expanding leadership team, and we feel extremely fortunate to have someone with her background and unique skillset join the Piedmont family.

“As we evolve from a pre-production, pre-revenue company to a global, multi-asset organisation with a growing workforce that could reach nearly 500 teammates, Kris’ diverse, international leadership experience will be invaluable in helping us build a world-class company, with a world-class culture and world-class HR systems and practices.

Welcoming a new VP

Piedmont’s new joiner brings a wealth of leadership and human resources experience to the role.

Across multiple roles, she’s headed up talent acquisition and management, designed and implemented compensation performance systems and formulated policies for multinational, multi-business unit companies.

McVey hails from TC Transcontinental (TSX:TCL.A) Packaging, where she rose from global director of human resources to vice president of human resources and U.S. labour relations.

In her most recent role, McVey oversaw all human resources activities for TC’s largest consumer packaging segment and labour relations strategies in the U.S. and Canada.

Prior to her time at TC, she enjoyed a 15-year career with Michelin with positions in both France and North America.

McVey earned her Juris Doctor in Labor and Employment Law from the University of South Carolina School of Law, her Master of Human Resources from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, as well as her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.

Over her career, McVey has served on the board of several philanthropic and community organisations, including SAFE Homes/Rape Crisis, the United Way of Stanly County and the Centralina Workforce Development Board.
