Kootenay Silver expands land position at its Columba silver project in Mexico

The company said the application to increase its land holdings surrounding the Columba project to more than 10,000 hectares is in response to its “excellent” 2021 exploration results

Kootenay Silver Inc said it has “significantly” increased its land holdings contiguous to its Columba high-grade silver project in Mexico, with an expected expansion from just under 1,000 hectares to more than 10,000 hectares following the application of a new concession surrounding the project.

The company noted the application for the new concession is in response to the “excellent” results from Kootenay's 2021 exploration program, which is indicating that the mineral system and extent of silver rich veins is much more extensive than what is seen at surface.

“We are very pleased to substantially increase our land position surrounding the original Columba project, which continues to yield high-grade silver intercepts from several areas on the property,” Kootenay Silver CEO James McDonald said in a statement.

“As a result, the company believes the newly expanded Columba land package represents an excellent district-scale exploration opportunity that will provide potential for high-grade silver discoveries,” McDonald added.

In addition, Kootenay said results from drilling and mapping completed by the company have significantly extended several potential mineralized structures laterally along strike within several prospective areas at Columba.

It added that recently-released drill holes, such as CDH-21-103 from the JZ Trap zone, have increased management's belief in the potential for a large resource of high-grade silver and the desire for more mineral rights.

Results from CDH-21-103 included 333 grams per tonne silver over 44 meters.

Kootenay Silver is an exploration company actively engaged in the discovery and development of mineral projects in the Sierra Madre Region of Mexico and in British Columbia, Canada.
