Northstar Gold kicks off Phase IIB diamond drill program at flagship Miller gold property

Boart Longyear mobilized a rig and crew in late September this year, and so far has completed 662 metres in three holes, the company said

Northstar Gold Corp told investors that a 2,400 metre (m), phase IIB diamond drill program had started at its Miller gold project in the Kirkland district of Ontario.

Boart Longyear mobilized a rig and crew in late September this year, and so far has completed 662m in three holes, the company said.

Assays for the Phase IIA drilling program have been received for three holes, while Northstar said that final assays from this program were expected imminently.

Results received so far include 1.5 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 2.75m from 70m to 72.75m depth, including 3.74 g/t gold over 0.75m from 72m to 72.75m depth in one hole at the Vein 1 Zone, the company said.

Northstar said that this latest Phase IIB drill program would focus on the following priorities:

  • 150 plus metre northward expansion of the near-surface bulk tonnage gold-telluride Allied Gold Zone (north of a previous hole, which hit 6.6 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 117m.
  • It will also see the twinning of select No. 1 Vein historic drill holes on the company' recently optioned Searles property to corroborate all older holes for a future resource estimate. Searles represents a portion of a 1987 historical resource estimate, which straddles both the recently optioned Searles property and Northstar's adjoining Miller gold property.
  • The program will also drill test select 3D I.P. chargeability anomalies, which were identified in the 2020 Dias geophysical survey.
  • It will also follow up drill testing of select new 2021 surface stripping, mapping and sampling mineralized zones discoveries.

Northstar added that an extensive mechanical surface stripping program was now complete on its Miller and Searles properties. Hundreds of channel samples have been collected to date with channel sampling ongoing.

Surface grab and channel samples have been submitted to ALS Laboratories for analysis; results are forthcoming and will be reported with additional details when received.

"The Vein 1 Zone has been exposed for 350m along strike to the east of the Searles Property boundary with a significant discovery being made in Area D2 where the zone blows out to 6m in true width with 8-15% pyrite mineralization," the company said.

Northstar's flagship property is its wholly-owned Miller Gold project, which sits 18km southeast of Kirkland Lake and Kirkland Lake Gold's Macassa SMC gold mine.
