Golden Tag Resources Ltd said the 2021 exploration program on its 100% owned San Diego project in Mexico has been expanded to include an additional 4,500 metres (m) of diamond drilling.
The company noted that the expanded exploration program is a follow up to the 4,716m of diamond drilling that has already been completed and reported in 2021.
“The expanded drill program will follow up on some of the tremendous successes our team accomplished during the first phase of 2021 drilling, the first drill campaign on the property since 2012,” Golden Tag Resources CEO Greg McKenzie said in a statement.

“The San Diego project hosts extensive silver-zinc-lead mineralization and continues to deliver outstanding results beyond the current resource shapes,” McKenzie added.
Golden Tag also outlined some key highlights from the first phase of 2021 drilling, which included the discovery of new, near-surface epithermal mineralization in hole 21-57 with the intersection of 75.9 grams per tonne (g/t) silver equivalent over 273.65m beginning near surface.
As well, the company said infill sampling of historic hole 11-40 resulted in a 10% increase in the reported grade of the mineralization within the Fernandez Zone to 101.9 g/t silver equivalent over 298.02m.
Toronto-based Golden Tag Resources considers the San Diego project to be one of Mexico’s largest undeveloped silver assets, with an estimated Indicated resource of 31.6 million silver ounces at an average grade of 60 g/t and 438 million pounds of zinc, along with an Inferred silver resource of 83.8 million ounces at 62 g/t and 1.2 billion pounds of zinc. The resource estimate, completed in 2013, is based on 59 holes totalling 33,000m.
