The soft drinks group will invest €250mln in emissions reduction initiatives by 2025 and switch to 100% renewable electricity and low carbon energy sources

Coca-Cola HBC AG announced that it is committing to achieving net zero emissions across its entire value chain by 2040.

The soft drinks maker is already targeting a 25% reduction in its emission by 2030.

In order to reach its targets, the company will invest €250mln in emissions reduction initiatives by 2025 and switch to 100% renewable electricity and low carbon energy sources.

It will also increase its use of rPET [recycled polyethylene terephthalate] packaging, adopt packageless and refillable options and remove plastics in secondary packaging

In addition, the group said it will provide energy-efficient and eco-friendly coolers to customers, reduce emissions from agricultural ingredients and implement a "Green Fleet" programme to switch to low and no carbon alternatives.
