Galantas Gold Corp (AIM:GAL, TSX-V:GAL, OTC:GALKF) has intersected high-grade gold at the Omagh project in Northern Ireland where it is carrying out a 4,000-metre drilling programme.
Underground drilling at the Kearney vein returned two high-grade intersections: 17.7 grammes per tonne (g/t) gold, 50.9 g/t silver and 4.6% lead over 2.5 metres, including 30.5 g/t gold, 60.8 g/t silver and 4.4% lead over 0.8 metres; and 10.8 g/t gold, 23.6 g/t silver and 3.3% lead over 1.5 metres.
Results from the first hole of surface drilling at the Joshua vein intersected 7.7 g/t gold, 24.3 g/t silver and 0.6% lead over 2.7 metres.
"We are very encouraged by the positive start to the surface and underground exploration program consisting of 4,000 metres of diamond drilling on the Kearney and Joshua veins - two of many high-priority targets on the company's land package,” said chief executive Mario Stifano.
“Underground drilling on the Kearney vein is testing deeper extensions of mineralized zones, and targeting higher widths of mineralization within the vein. Drilling will also target continuity and grade of additional mineralized zones running parallel to the main orebody."
The company has completed 2,000 metres of underground development at the Kearney vein and is within 240 metres of accessing the Joshua vein.
