District Metals kicks off Phase II, 5,000-metre drill program at its Tomtebo polymetallic property

District CEO Garrett Ainsworth called the new program the “most exciting to date”

District Metals Corp announced it has started a new drilling program at its Tomtebo polymetallic property in the Bergslagen district of Sweden.

The resource company will sink at least 5,000 metres at the property, with two rigs operated by Hy-Tech Drilling Sweden AB.

District is hoping to test a new interpretation near the large mineralized system around the historic Tomtebo mine using geochemistry and geophysics.

In addition, the program will include “aggressive” step outs from the significant mineralization District encountered during its Phase I program, it said in a statement.

Drilling will also test virgin regional targets on anomalies within one kilometre along trend of the Tomtebo mine.

Plan View of Proposed Phase II Drill Holes

District CEO Garrett Ainsworth called the new program the “most exciting to date” in a company statement.

"Since acquiring the Tomtebo Property in June 2020 we have been diligently acquiring and compiling exploration data to better understand the polymetallic mineral system at Tomtebo, which has prioritized the best targets with potential to discover economic mineralization,” Ainsworth told investors.

“We now have a much better understanding of Tomtebo thanks to our technical team's breadth of modern knowledge on polymetallic deposits in the Bergslagen, and through innovative exploration techniques such as whole rock geochemistry and geophysical surveys that were never previously carried out at Tomtebo. Every exploration program we have conducted at Tomtebo has delivered positive overlapping anomalies and data that makes this Phase II drill program the most exciting to date."

Tomtebo comprises 5,144 hectares located between the historic Falun Mine and Boliden's Garpenberg Mine that are located 25 kilometres away from the property.
