Castillo Copper due diligence site visit highlights pegmatite outcropping at Litchfield

The site visit follows satellite imagery, which has verified the geology along the Litchfield Lithium Project’s northwest boundary that is contiguous with Core Lithium’s Finniss Lithium Project.

Castillo Copper Ltd (LSE:CCZ, ASX:CCZ)’s initial due diligence has highlighted pegmatite outcropping during a site visit at Litchfield Lithium Project in the Northern Territory.

Promisingly, this is along the project's northwest boundary contiguous to Core Lithium Ltd (ASX:CXO)’s Finniss Lithium Project which has a JORC-compliant ore reserve of 7.4 million tonnes at 1.3% lithium oxide.

The site visit follows satellite imagery, which verified the geology along the Litchfield Lithium Project’s northwest boundary.

Intensive surface sampling

Litchfield Lithium Project.

Castillo via the Vendor Group’s geological consultant conducted intensive surface sampling across four target areas within the northwest quadrant, taking 657 samples to determine the potential for contiguous mineralisation.

The sampled areas mostly comprised metamorphic rocks linked to the Burrell Creek formation – a host rock for the regional occurrences of pegmatites.

These samples are at the laboratory undergoing further analysis, with results slated to be received in the coming weeks.

Next steps

At Castillo’s lithium projects, the initial focus will be the ongoing due diligence for Picasso and Litchfield projects, including the return of assay results for surface sampling campaigns.

The company's primary focus remains on copper and In Queensland, drilling of the Arya Prospect is set to take over the coming weeks.

In Zambia, an IP survey at the Luanshya and Mkushi projects followed by the analysis of the results for incremental targets for test-drilling is to be completed.

Furthermore, Castillo plans to begin work on the inaugural drilling campaign for the Luanshya Project.
