Miramar Resources uncovers more positive gold results during Gidji JV Project drilling

The explorer’s latest round of aircore drilling has uncovered new gold zones and increased confidence in future gold discoveries at the Eastern Goldfields exploration asset.

Miramar Resources Ltd (ASX:M2R) has turned the soil on more positive gold results during aircore drilling at its 80%-owned Gidji Joint Venture (JV) Project in WA’s Eastern Goldfields.

The drilling campaign targeted gold leads at the Marylebone, Railway, Piccadilly and 8-Mile prospects, opening up a new, 1-kilometre-long target zone that hit as much as 1.23 g/t gold.

Activity at Marylebone showed particular promise, with aircore drilling unearthing gold intersections over 1 g/t with mineralisation open to the north and west.

Looking ahead, Miramar has more aircore and reverse circulation drilling planned to further unlock Gidji’s potential.

Prospective for gold discoveries

Miramar executive chairman Allan Kelly said the new results from the aircore holes continued to reinforce the potential for one or more new gold discoveries at Gidji.

“Marylebone continues to deliver significant aircore results from each program, which increases our confidence that there could be a significant new gold discovery to be outlined.

“After four aircore programs of relatively wide-spaced holes, we still have not yet determined the full extent of the Marylebone footprint, which is currently about 2 kilometres long, and still growing.

“In addition, even though our focus has been mostly on defining the extents of the Marylebone target, we have also continued to test other targets that add to the developing opportunity at Gidji.”

Drilling down at Gidji’s targets

Exploration at Gidji’s flagship Marylebone target — a gold prospect that includes at least four zones of parallel gold mineralisation, stretching over at least 2 kilometres — has uncovered yet another zone of gold anomalism.

Drilling as part of the phase three and four aircore programs at Gidji found the new zone grades more than 0.25 g/t gold, stretches for at least 1 kilometre and hosts a 6-metre intersection at 1.23 g/t at its northern end.

Although mineralisation looks to be closed off to the southeast, there’s potential for future extensions because the target remains open to the north and west.

The most easterly of the four zones at Marylebone now stretches for over 1 kilometre and contains multiple results over 1 g/t gold, several of which are associated with elevated arsenic.

This indicates the gold zone could lie near a potential bedrock gold source.

Some of the key drilling intersections from the Marylebone target are illustrated below:

Meanwhile, over at Railway, Miramar is prospecting a linear, aircore gold anomaly that stretches for nearly 1 kilometre and remains open along strike to the northwest.

Recent aircore drilling intersected strongly anomalous gold along strike from the two best results in previous programs, however, two of the holes on that section did not reach basement.

Some of the key results from Railway are below:

Finally, at Piccadilly — planted between the 8-Mile and Marylebone targets — Miramar is honing in on a cross-shaped aircore gold anomaly.

This looks to be linked to an intersection of northwest-trending and north–south trending gold-bearing structures.

A previous drill hole intersected several zones of anomalous gold — more than 0.1 g/t — and highly anomalous arsenic, molybdenum and tin.

During the latest aircore program, two drill holes intersected anomalous gold at the northern end of the target, which remains open along strike towards the Railway prospect.

These intersections are:

What’s to come?

Miramar intends to follow up the latest round of aircore activity with further drilling.

At Marylebone, it plans to extend drill coverage to the open section in the northwest, while infill drilling will chase up previous, promising results.

The ASX-lister hopes to complete this activity by year’s end, with the next round of aircore drilling set to refine targets for reverse circulation testing next year.

Over at Railway and Piccadilly, further drilling is also planned, with one reverse circulation drill hole to test underneath a previous aircore result.

Miramar will update the market as it continues to make strides in its Gidji exploration program.
