Ananda Developments (AQSE:ANA) PLC is advancing the construction of its facilities and highlighted research predicting the number of UK medical cannabis users will rise from 9,500 today to 25,000 by the end of 2022.
The UK-based listed platform for cannabis investors said it is encouraged by the potential of the medical cannabis industry in the UK and is heartened to see medical cannabis becoming more widely acceptable and understood as an efficacious treatment for many health indications.
“Our ambition is clear,” said chief executive Melissa Sturgess. “We want to provide high-quality UK grown medical cannabis to UK based patients, and later to the international market.
“Our approach is considered and deliberate: to build a profitable business by growing and supplying medical cannabis that meets patient and prescriber needs.”
The company’s research facility in the UK is being built by Ananda’s 50% owned subsidiary DJT Plants Limited and it provided an update, detailing that the pouring of concrete flooring is now complete.
