Hawkmoon Resources acquires a cluster of seven gold showings in Quebec’s Abitibi

With proximity to infrastructure, a qualified workforce and access to several local drill contractors and assay labs Hawkmoon said it can easily work both the Wilson and Romeo projects at the same time, all year round, decreasing logistics

Hawkmoon Resources (CSE:HM), a gold exploration company focused on Quebec, said it has acquired the option for 100% of the Wilson gold project in Quebec from Cartier Resources.

The property is comprised of 42 mineral claims totaling approximately 1,660 hectares. Two major government-maintained roads cross the property, one of which leads to its Romeo property.

With proximity to infrastructure, a qualified workforce and access to several local drill contractors and assay labs Hawkmoon said it can easily work both Wilson and Romeo at the same time, all year round, decreasing logistics and costs. The location of Wilson reinforces its focus on gold in Quebec, the company added.

“The option to acquire this property from Cartier Resources is an amazing opportunity for Hawkmoon,” the company’s president, Branden Haynes, said in a statement.

“We intend to start work on this exciting new gold project shortly. It is excellent to work with Cartier Resources. Cartier has an excellent reputation as one of Quebec’s most esteemed junior miners.”

Hawkmoon said the geology of Wilson is composed of felsic to intermediate volcanic flows and tuffs and a gabbroic sill. The primary gold showing on Wilson is the Toussaint showing, where a historical assessment report suggested a head grade of 7.1 grams per ton (g/t) gold.

In addition to the Toussaint, it said there are six other gold showings on Wilson, including Midrim, Benoist, Moneta Porcupine North, Moneta Porcupine South, T&M, and Parnor. The largest of these showings is the Midrim which is situated several hundred metres northeast of Toussaint.

One goal is to explore the possibility of connecting the Toussaint and Midrim Showings, the company said.

Hawkmoon recently completed its initial public offering and is focused entirely on its two Quebec gold projects in one of the world’s largest gold deposits, the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.

Both these gold projects are accessed by government-maintained roads and are in close proximity to each other east of the town of Lebel sur Quévillon.
