Alto Metals grows scale at Lords with new high-grade gold results revealing Juno discovery

Drilling has returned broad high-grade results of up to 45 metres at 3.2 g/t gold including 5 metres at 17.5 g/t from below the Lord Nelson pit and 13 metres at 5.1 g/t including 3 metres at 17.0 g/t at a new zone around 400 metres to the s

Alto Metals Ltd continues to grow the scale of the Lords Corridor within the Sandstone Gold Project in WA with new high-grade gold mineralisation revealed outside the current resource estimate at a new discovery named Juno.

Drilling has returned broad high-grade results of up to 45 metres at 3.2 g/t gold from below the Lord Nelson pit and 13 metres at 5.1 g/t at a new zone around 400 metres south of that pit.

Juno is considered a previously undiscovered extension of the mineralised zone below the Lord Nelson pit, outside the current resource, which now extends for over a 1-kilometre strike and remains open.

"Potential for further growth"

This discovery highlights the potential for additional repeat gold lodes along the Lords Corridor.

“The results from the new Juno lode are outstanding, with high-grade mineralisation intersected further along the Lords Corridor, and clearly demonstrates the potential for further growth,” Alto Metals managing director Matthew Bowles said.

“Juno is considered a previously undiscovered extension of the mineralised zone below the Lord Nelson pit, outside the current resource, which currently extends for over a kilometre strike and remains open."

High-grade results

At Juno in the new zone south of Lord Nelson Pit, strong results are:

  • 13 metres at 5.1 g/t gold from 162 metres, including 3 metres at 17.0 g/t from 168 metres;
  • 23 metres at 1.7 g/t from 141 metres, including 5 metres at 5.4 g/t from 154 metres; and
  • 22 metres at 1.6 g/t from 135 metres, including 5 metres at 5.5 g/t gold from 152 metres.

Deeper RC and diamond drilling below and to the south of the Lord Nelson Pit and at the Orion Lode also intersected thick, high-grade gold mineralisation:

  • 45 metres at 3.2 g/t gold from 161 metres, including 5 metres at 17.5 g/t from 162 metres;
  • 29.5 metres at 1.5 g/t from 192 metres;
  • 24 metres at 1.3 g/t from 129 metres;
  • 21 metres at 3.5 g/t from 76 metres; and
  • 43 metres at 1.0 g/t from 104 metres.

"Very similar to King of the Hills"

“At the same time, we have also hit further thick, high-grade mineralisation from deeper drilling beneath the Lord Nelson pit, with SRC432 returning 45 metres at 3.2 g/t gold, including 5 metres at 17.5 g/t gold, which was drilled approximately 30 metres north of SRC423 and returned 48 metres at 3.4 g/t gold, demonstrating the continuity of mineralisation, outside the current resource," Bowles said.

“The nature and style of mineralisation that we see at the Lord’s granodiorite, with gold mineralisation within the granodiorite ‘damage zone’ and high-grade gold along the margin of the ultramafic contact, is very similar to that of the Tarmoola granodiorite at Red 5’s King of the Hills.

“This is very encouraging as it highlights the scale of what we potentially may have at the Lords Corridor.”

50,000 metres of drilling

AME’s drilling campaign began at the end of last year and has continued for over eight months, completing over 50,000 metres of RC drilling – more than the company has drilled in the last four years combined.

“Looking to the future the Alto team is working on expanding our resource base which currently sits at 6.2 million tonnes at 1.7 g/t for 331,000 ounces and planning the next major drill program, once all pending results have been received,” Alto Metals non-executive chairman Richard Monti said in the company’s 2021 annual report.

The Western-Australian based gold-exploration company holds about 800 square kilometres of the prospective Sandstone Greenstone Belt, where the Lords Corridor is situated, and a further 600 square kilometres north of Perth in the East Murchison Mineral Field of Western Australia.

AME has defined a mineral resource of 6.2 million tonnes at 1.7 g/t for 331,000 ounces at the Lord Nelson, Lord Henry, Vanguard Camp, Indomitable Camp, Havilah and Ladybird deposits of the Sandstone Project.

This most recent drilling campaign at Lord Nelson was drilled west to east on a 40 x 40-metre grid spacing intended to further extend and define the company’s resource holding.
