C3 Metals reveals more encouraging assays from drilling at Jasperoide copper-gold project in Peru

Highlights from the results include 123 metres at 1.28% copper and 0.50 g/t gold in one hole, and 106 metres at 0.99% copper and 0.28 g/t gold

C3 Metals Inc revealed new assays from seven holes drilled at the Montana de Cobre zone on its Jasperoide copper-gold project that intersected broad intervals of high-grade mineralization.

Highlights from the results include 123 metres at 1.28% copper and 0.50 grams per ton (g/t) gold in one hole and 106 metres at 0.99% copper and 0.28 g/t gold.

Other holes intersected 229 meters at 0.99% copper and 0.43 g/t gold, including 23 metres at 1.98% copper and 0.96 g/t gold, and 80 metres at 1.89% copper and 0.78 g/t gold.

In a statement, the Toronto-based company said that drilling continues to intersect high-grade copper-gold mineralization across the shallow-dipping skarn domain, which is laterally extensive for 400 to 600 metres and varies from 100-150 metres in true thickness.

Jasperoide is a 57-square-kilometre high-grade copper-gold skarn and porphyry system located in the prolific Andahuaylas-Yauri porphyry-skarn belt in southern Peru. According to C3, mineralization is hosted in a similar geological setting to the nearby major mining operations at MMG’s Las Bambas, HudBay’s Constancia and Glencore’s Antapaccay projects.

Further drilling is ongoing at the Cresta Verde zone on the Peru-based project.

"As we continue to define the high-grade oxide skarn at Montaña de Cobre we are very excited to be drilling the first coincident magnetic/IP geophysical target some two kilometres to the north at Cresta Verde,” C3 CEO Kevin Tomlinson said in a statement.

Tomlinson told investors that the company’s geologists have logged sulphide mineralization – including chalcopyrite, together with molybdenite – that is associated with intense skarn development in two of the first three holes at Cresta Verde.

“Importantly these observations associated with a strongly coincident IP and magnetic anomaly together with the presence of high-sulphidation feeder structures and chalcopyrite-bearing porphyry fragments are indicative of proximity to a causative porphyry intrusion,” Tomlinson said.

The company is “very encouraged” by the latest drill results, according to Tomlinson.

“Jasperoide displays all the characteristics of a large mineral system with kilometre-scale copper skarn development associated with major structures and multi-phase intrusions. Over 80% of historical holes were drilled to less than 250m depth, just touching the surface of this large-scale hydrothermal system.”

C3 Metals also holds a 100% interest in five licenses covering 207 square kilometres of highly prospective copper-gold terrain in Jamaica, and a 100% interest in two porphyry copper-gold properties, with one under option to Tocvan Ventures, covering 304 square kilometres within the Cascade Magmatic Arc in southwestern British Columbia.
