Galileo Mining fully funded to accelerate exploration campaigns in current financial year

Galileo Mining finished the 2021 financial year strongly, with exploration projects advancing rapidly despite COVID-19 threatening logistical delays, and momentum has continued.

Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) continued its aggressive exploration campaign throughout FY2021, advancing exploration projects at the Fraser Range Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project and ramping up fresh exploration efforts at the Norseman Palladium-Nickel-Cobalt Project.

The company is Western Australia-based, targeting the exploration of large-scale magmatic nickel-copper deposits in the prolific Fraser Range and high-grade nickel-copper-cobalt resources at its Norseman Project.

Only minor COVID-19 delays

While WA border closures and COVID-19 restrictions delayed an initial drilling campaign at Fraser Range by a month, the company has already begun plans for a follow-up diamond drilling program, which will be finalised on receipt of assay results and downhole EM surveying.

“Importantly, this delay has not impacted our resolve or our view that the Fraser Range remains a prime region to explore and potentially find economic nickel mineralisation,” chairman and managing director Brad Underwood said.

“On the cash front, since the end of the period we have completed a successful capital raising of $6.5 million and we are fully funded to accelerate our exploration campaigns at both the Fraser Range and Norseman projects.”

Over the financial year, two diamond drilling campaigns and an RC campaign have been concluded at Fraser Range. Meanwhile, an initial 1,000 metre RC drilling campaign is in progress to test geophysical models of Electromagnetic (EM) targets at the Delta Blues Prospect (DB1 and DB2).

At Norseman, results show strong prospectivity for palladium in the region. Existing drill results demonstrate the quality of the project, providing the basis for a new understanding of the mineralisation processes and aiding in the development of robust drill targets.

With potential for a significant palladium discovery, GAL says it will be aggressively pursuing this opportunity going forward.

Previous results promising

Three RC drill holes at the DB2 target of Delta Blues Prospect within the Fraser Range Project returned sulphide intercepts with anomalous copper and gold:

Results include:

  • 4 metres at 0.29 g/t gold and 0.29% copper from 188 metres including 1-metre at 0.61 g/t gold and 0.66% copper from 190 metres;
  • 5 metres at 0.10 g/t gold and 0.25% copper from 167 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 0.21 g/t gold and 0.27% copper from 154 metres.

EM surveying to the northeast at the Lantern South and East prospects has revealed a large, shallow and conductive target along strike from the Lantern South Project. The modelled EM conductor is a large-scale target 750 metres long and only 165 metres below the surface.

Previous drilling at Lantern South returned 41 metres at 0.19% nickel & 0.14% copper and 5 metres at 0.49% nickel & 0.46% copper, including 1-metre at 0.66% nickel & 0.75% copper.
