Andromeda Metals Ltd (ASX:ADN) has bolstered its top team by appointing experienced director and mining lawyer Melissa Holzberger to the board.
The new joiner, who brings more than 20 years’ experience across the international energy and resources sector, will serve as an independent non-executive director on the ADN team.
Holzberger hails from mining stalwarts like Rio Tinto PLC (LSE:RIO) and BHP Group PLC (LSE:BHP), where she worked across a series of mining projects and operations.
She also serves on the board of two ASX-listers with uranium interests: explorer Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX:PDN) and laser tech developer Silex Systems Ltd.
Broadening board’s expertise
Speaking to the new appointment, Andromeda chairman Rhod Grivas said: “We are delighted to welcome Melissa Holzberger to the board of Andromeda Metals as we focus on preparing for the next stage of our operations and moving from an explorer to a developer and producer.
“Melissa’s extensive experience in commercial, legal, governance and compliance roles will broaden the board’s expertise in this area.”
Andromeda is focused on developing its Great White Kaolin Project JV in SA as it moves towards producer status.
Wide-ranging experience
Director Holzberger’s expertise covers a number of key areas, including highly regulated industries, international commodity trade, corporate ethics and risk, compliance oversight and environment, social and governance (ESG) matters.
In terms of education, the new non-executive director holds;
- A Masters of Laws in Resources Law from the University of Dundee in Scotland;
- A Diploma in International Law from the University of Montpellier in France; and
- A Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Adelaide.
Holzberger is also:
- A graduate of the University of Oxford’s Leading Sustainable Corporations;
- A graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; and
- A Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
In 2006, she was awarded the Telstra South Australian Young Business Woman of the Year, which recognised her contributions and leadership in the energy, resources and business community.
Holzberger commenced her new role with Andromeda on September 23.
Andromeda to present at virtual conference
In tandem with the new appointment, Andromeda has announced it will present at the NWR Virtual Resources Series on September 28.
The company will come online at 1:35 pm AEST and speak to progress across its Great White halloysite-kaolin play.
It comes just days after the company appointed global expert Dr Bryn Harris to lead its high purity alumina (HPA) strategy and augment work being done in Australia by HPA expert Boyd Willis.
Dr Harris will oversee the ongoing due diligence on testing facility Advanced Engineering Materials (AEM), as well as its plans for a HPA plant in the UK to test Andromeda’s kaolin.
Through assets like its South Australian Great White Kaolin Project, Andromeda hopes to provide industrial materials like halloysite-kaolin to customers around the world.
Great White boasts a 34.6 million tonne mineral resource estimate and a mine life that spans more than 25 years.
It will require just over $102 million to bring into production.
