Pathway Health (TSX-V:PHC) Corp announced it is expanding the rollout of its Medical Cannabis Management System (MCMS) with Canadian retailer Sobeys Capital Incorporated.
The move is an acceleration of the agreement that Pathway and Sobeys signed in July this year that will see Sobeys implement Pathway’s MCMS in numerous retail locations throughout Canada.
In July, Pathway announced a deal that will see its MCMS in the pharmacies inside Safeway (NYSE:SWY), Lawtons Drugs, Freshco, Foodland, Thrifty Foods and IGA.

Pathway also announced that it had immediately commenced the rollout of the MCMS in Nova Scotia, and that it would be followed by a rollout to the rest of Atlantic Canada and the rest of Sobeys' 425 pharmacies across Canada.
Pathway is now reporting that it will expand the rollout to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland, introducing the MCMS to Sobeys' Canadian pharmacy locations.
The new collaboration will occur in two phases. The first component is education with Pathway providing its accredited course "Cannabis and Patient Care for Pharmacists". The bilingual education resource meets or exceeds the requirements of the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) and the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
Designed for use in retail pharmacies, the goal of the MCMS is to provide access points for medical cannabis care, enabling pharmacists to offer medical cannabis assessments to appropriate pharmacy patients.

"This accelerated regional rollout supports our partnership with Sobeys to provide patients with the access they need to get the proper care where medical cannabis is deemed an appropriate treatment.”
Yoon added that the firm is “optimistic” that it will achieve a national rollout of the program with Sobeys before the end of 2021.
Separately, Pathway announced the appointment of Jack Schroder as its new corporate secretary. Schroder is a senior associate at Dentons Canada LLP and a corporate securities lawyer with many years of experience acting for public companies.
The incoming corporate secretary will work with Pathway with a mandate to review organizational structure and corporate governance, ensure compliance with securities regulations and will play a key role alongside the management team and board in the areas of corporate finance, strategic planning and M&A transaction review and structuring, according to a statement.
Toronto-based Pathway is one of the largest providers of out-of-hospital pain management services in Canada.
