Cervantes Corporation confirms Blue Heaven gold target at Primrose with strong first assays

"Cervantes’ primary goal remains to define a resource and define new areas that have the potential to significantly increase the area’s gold endowment,” says chairman.

Cervantes Corporation Ltd (ASX:CVS) has fielded first assays from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at Blue Heaven Prospect of Primrose Gold Project in WA with results up to 3 metres at 8.85 g/t from 75 metres confirming the gold target.

Around 400 assays from a total of 3,300 samples from the 3,060 metres of drilling completed on July 30, 2021, have been received with assaying of the remaining samples ongoing.

Other strong results include:

  • 3 metres at 3.33 g/t from 15 metres;
  • 3 metres at 3.28 g/t from 24 metres;
  • 1-metre at 26.3 g/t from 93 metres;
  • 3 metres at 3.76 g/t from 82 metres;
  • 1-metre at 6.85 g/t from 122 metres;
  • 1-metre at 21.73 g/t from 34 metres; and
  • 3 metres at 3.81 g/t from 66 metres.

“Very encouraged”

Cervantes’ chairman Robert Downey said: “We are delighted with these results. Our drilling campaign was designed to advance the Blue Heaven exploration target, with the view of defining a resource.

"We are very encouraged by these significant intersections and eagerly anticipate receipt of the next batch of assays.

"Cervantes’ primary goal remains to define a resource and define new areas that have the potential to significantly increase the area’s gold endowment.”

Historic intercepts confirmed

Eight of the 47 holes completed at Primrose were verification (twinned) holes of historical RC drill holes and these have confirmed the historic intercepts.

An additional 33 holes were drilled to infill areas within the Exploration Target zone and to test for extensions of the known gold mineralisation.

These were also intended to support conversion of the conceptual Exploration Target of 170,000 to 520,000 tonnes at 2.2 to 4.5 g/t gold to a JORC resource estimate.

Sampling was done on 3-metre composites except where drilling duplicated historically defined gold lode positions where 1-metre sampling was used. Significant 3-metre samples will be resubmitted for assaying at 1-metre intervals.

Average of 0.3909 g/t

Of the 399 assays received, only seven were below detection limit with the average of all assays being 0.3909 g/t gold, reflecting the highly auriferous nature of this prospect.

In some cases, new gold lines have been defined, some of which are to the west of the Primrose Shear and represents previously unrecognised mineralisation.

The western side of the shear has been poorly explored in the past and represents potential for additional gold discovery. This will be further assessed once all assays are received.

About Primrose

The Primrose Project covers in excess of 8 kilometres of the highly gold mineralised Primrose Shear in the Murchison District of the Eastern Goldfields.

More than 37 gold mines operated in this field from 1911 until 1982. Some 79,915 ounces of gold was mined at an average grade of 28 g/t during this period.

It is generally accepted that significantly more gold than this was won from alluvial and unreported production.

Cervantes controls mining leases and prospecting licences that cover the majority of this historic goldfield.

A large database of drilling, surface geochemistry, geological and geophysical data has been assembled to allow the field to be better understood than at any time in its history.
