Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd looks to be one of the hardest working companies in the world at the moment.
In the last few weeks, this leader in digital entertainment, blockchain and gamification which is driving digital property rights via NFTs (unique digital tokens), launched REVV Racing, a first-of-its-kind blockchain game and partnered with nfast.
Animoca also announced it will launch the first sale of MotoGP™ Ignition Hot Shots, a new series of NFT collectibles representing exciting moments from MotoGP™ racing events.
This flurry of activity, in line with its goal of being the global leader in branded blockchain gaming, caught the eye of the Financial Times, which included Animoca on its list of High Growth Companies Asia-Pacific 2021.
Today, Animoca announced it has entered into a binding agreement to acquire a majority stake in Bondly, a company at the forefront of developing new technologies to make blockchain utilisation for NFTs and cryptocurrencies safer, more efficient and decentralised.
Mass NFT adoption
Animoca’s strategic investment in Bondly, is designed to drive mass NFT adoption across Animoca Brands’ portfolio companies within gaming, sports, entertainment, collectibles, and other industries.
Bondly has proven technology – including NFT swap protocol, marketplace, and cross-chain NFT minting and bridges – that will enable gamers to easily move NFT assets from one blockchain to another.
“Bondly has developed powerful tools to help onboard brands and individuals to the world of NFTs and has built valuable relationships with many leading brands and artists,” Animoca Brands co-founder and chairman Yat Siu said.
“These products and relationships will be of great assistance to Animoca Brands and our portfolio companies, including the Launchpad Luna accelerator, as we drive the shift to the true digital ownership model made possible by NFTs.”
Creating a force to be reckoned with
Prior to the Bondly acquisition, Animoca had positioned itself as a major force in the world of blockchain and gaming.
This new move will help cement its place.
Earlier this year, Animoca raised $138.88 million to bring its valuation to $1.139 billion on the strength of its plan to deliver digital property rights to gamers via NFTs.
The synergies between Animoca and Bondly’s vision to introduce NFT owners to the opportunities presented by DeFi ecosystems, are undeniable.
“Joining forces with Animoca Brands is a game-changing strategic alignment that will propel GameFi to the next level,” said Bondly Finance co-founder and CEO Harry Liu.
“As a pioneer in the NFT space, we will bring our extensive know-how in delivering high-quality, high-utility NFT experiences to the Animoca Brands portfolio companies.”
