Microsoft unveils giant share buyback on top of annual dividend hike

It is the 12th straight September where the Redmond outfit has added to its quarterly payout

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced overnight that it will lift its quarterly dividend and launch a new share buyback program.

The software colossus hiked its dividend 11% to 62 cents, the 12th straight September it has added to its quarterly payout, with hikes of 10% and 11% in the previous two years.

Based on the last closing share price, the company boasts a dividend yield of 0.8%.

Microsoft also unveiled a new $60bn stock repurchase program, with no specific expiration date.
