QMines strengthens board through appointment of experienced geologist

New independent non-executive director Peter Caristo has experience across a wide range of copper and gold projects within various geological terranes and mineralisation styles.

QMines Ltd (ASX:QML) has enhanced the skillset of its Board of Directors through the appointment of experienced geologist Peter Caristo as an independent non-executive director.

Caristo has more than 24 years of experience as a geologist working across project generation, assessment and management in Australia and overseas covering greenfields and brownfields projects.

He has covered a wide range of copper and gold projects within various geological terranes and mineralisation styles.

Strengthening technical capability

QMines has been looking to strengthen its in-house technical capability since its recent ASX listing with the board welcoming the new director.

Executive chairman Andrew Sparke said: “We have been looking to add an experienced technical director to the board since our recent ASX listing and we are excited to welcome Peter to the team.”

Caristo has worked for a number of successful resources companies including Newcrest Mining Ltd and OceanaGold Corp and as a geological consultant based in Queensland.

The company said: “The board looks forward to working with him to achieve QMines’ growth strategy.”

MD stepping down

This appointment comes as managing director Daniel Lanskey advises that he will be stepping down to pursue other interests.

"We would also like to sincerely thank Dan for his contribution to the business. Dan has been the company’s managing director for over 12 months and assisted with the company’s establishment and recent ASX listing,” Sparke said.

“Dan remains an important shareholder of the business and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.”

Zero-carbon strategy

QMines is a Queensland-based copper and gold exploration and development company that is seeking to become Australia’s first zero-carbon copper and gold developer.

The company owns 100% of four advanced projects covering a total area of 1,096 square kilometres with the flagship project, Mt Chalmers, 17 kilometres northeast of Rockhampton.

This project is a high-grade historic mine that produced 1.2 million tonnes at 3.6 g/t gold, 2.0% copper and 19 g/t silver between 1898 and 1982.

Mt Chalmers has a JORC 2012-compliant inferred resource of 3.9 million tonnes at 1.15% copper, 0.81 g/t gold and 8.4 g/t silver.

QMines’ objective is to grow its resource base, consolidate assets in the region and assess commercialisation options.

The company has commenced an aggressive exploration program (+30,000 metres) providing shareholders with leverage to a growing resource and exploration success.
