Salt Lake Potash Ltd (AIM:SO4, ASX:SO4, OTC:WHELF, LSE:SO4) has appointed highly experienced mining executive Isak Buitendag as new CEO as it moves to progress its flagship Lake Way Sulphate of Potash (SOP) Project in Western Australia.
The SO4 board believes Buitendag’s skills and reputation as a disciplined operator and manager will serve shareholders well and looks forward to his leadership bringing Lake Way into a sustainable, profitable operation.
Commenting on his appointment Buitendag said: “I’m excited to be joining SO4 at such a critical stage of its development and look forward to working with the team to deliver Lake Way and grow the business into a meaningful player in the global SOP market.”
Before joining Kazzinc, Buitendag was vice president of operations and vice president of development at Kazchrome, the largest ferrochrome producer in the world.
He also has significant experience in executive roles within the mining industry in Australia, Kazakhstan and Africa, including at BHP and Fortescue.
Buitendag has significant experience in leading teams in project development and minerals processing and has a track record of delivering business turnarounds in an executive capacity.
The company anticipates that the appointment will be effective no later than November 15, 2021.
His employment at the company is pursuant to the executive services agreement and is subject to requotation of the company’s securities on the ASX.
