Miramar Resources increases Gidji JV strike length to 15 kilometres with new tenements

The newly granted tenements contain several high-priority targets with exploration, including drilling, planned in the near term.

Miramar Resources Ltd (ASX:M2R) has increased the total strike length held at the Gidji Joint Venture Project in WA’s Eastern Goldfields to 15 kilometres after being granted several key tenements.

The newly granted tenements at the 80%-owned JV contain several high-priority gold targets and will form part of the company’s upcoming exploration program at Gidji.

Additional targets

Miramar’s executive chairman Allan Kelly said that the newly granted tenements were mostly poorly explored and provided the company with several additional targets for testing.

Further drilling is planned at Gidji, including on the new tenure, after the company completes the current lake aircore drilling campaign at the Glandore Project, also in the Kalgoorlie area.

“The newly granted tenure includes a 4-kilometre-long segment of the Boorara Shear Zone, north of Marylebone, which is hidden under lake sediments and other transported material,” Kelly said.

“There is minimal deep drilling along most of this regionally important structure with only shallow aircore drill traverses spaced at least 500 metres apart."

Under-explored targets

The new tenure includes a number of highly prospective and under-explored drill targets identified prior to Miramar’s IPO in 2020. These include:

  • The Jog – large flexure in Boorara Shear Zone with coincident magnetite destruction and gravity anomaly that has never been drilled;
  • Claypan – 800-metre-long aircore gold anomaly >0.25 g/t gold, and limited wide-spaced RC drilling that intersected 1-2 g/t gold, within regional structure along strike from Kanowna Belle; and
  • Lake – 1-kilometre-long aircore gold anomaly >0.25 g/t gold with sporadic high-grade RC intersections including 2 metres at 6 g/t and 2 metres at 4.9 g/t.
