Viscount Mining kicks off phase 3 drilling at Silver Cliff in bid to expand Kate deposit resource

The aim is to increase resource at the Kate deposit (KSR) and an initial 13 holes are planned to the south, west, and northeast of the known resource

Viscount Mining Corp (TSX-V:VML, OTCQB:VLMGF) revealed it had started a third phase of drilling at its Silver Cliff property in Colorado following the receipt of the necessary approval from the US state.

The aim is to increase resource at the Kate deposit (KSR) and an initial 13 holes are planned to the south, west, and northeast of the known resource. Meanwhile, a further two holes are planned for the Passiflora target.

"The third phase of this year's exploration program is heavily weighted towards expanding the current mineral resource at the Kate," said Jacob Hooker, Viscount's exploration manager, in a statement.

"The previous drill results from the Kate East Zone has demonstrated the deposit to be open ended in all directions. This next phase of drilling will allow us continue to step out drill holes on all sides of the deposit which will make our goal of expanding the current NI 43-101 resource possible this year," Hooker added.

Previous drill results by Viscount at Silver Cliff have included 13.7 meters (m) at 388.6 grams per ton (g/t) silver starting from a depth of 19.8m and 702.7 g/t silver over 14.9m starting from 15.1m.

Located in Colorado’s Hardscrabble Silver District, Silver Cliff is a 2,319-hectare property where high-grade silver, gold and base metals were mined until the early twentieth century.

The property underwent substantial exploration between 1967 and 1984 and in 1987, Tenneco Minerals leased it with access to results from 11,930 meters in 249 drill holes that had been done since 1968.

In the subsequent two years, Tenneco drilled a further 143 holes totaling 7,949 meters and then decided to construct a $35,000,000 milling operation to extract silver reserves.

But shortly thereafter Tenneco decided to sell the minerals division, and the planned milling operation was abandoned.
